In his letter to the Galatians, the Apostle Paul lists generosity (alternatively translated as “goodness”) as one of the fruit of the Spirit. He makes it clear that true generosity is not something that done because of feeling guilty or coerced but is done freely and joyfully.
The first Christians were so generous to each other that there were no needy people in their numbers.
